End of the month doo-dad.

Well, I figured I'd post a thing this month for some reason. I need to post more, but I just don't have any news really, only that I graduate May 9th. School has been an all consuming thing for me lately. Anyway, on to other stuff.

On March 19th my boyfriend and I (above, we're cute) celebrated our one year anniversary. It was lovely, we spent three whole lazy days together and we gorged on Cici's pizza. Sometimes I can't believe that two people can love each other so much. It's weird, I guess. Sometimes I think about how crazily perfect we are for each other and it weirds me out. I don't expect any of you other people to understand. It's just special. So yeah, that's me being sappy.

My boyfriend's brother and his wife had twin boys last week. I don't have any pictures of them, but they are super cute, seriously. Most newborns are ugly, in my opinion. But Xavier and Zachery are so dang adorable. Holding them made me get all teary-eyed. Seeing my boyfriend hold them made me get even more teary-eyed. Hehe. Anyway, I'm excited to be their aunt (someday officially). They're the sweetest little babies I've ever seen! I hope I can be a part of their lives, because it seems to me babies do better when they have a lot of people to love them (and buy them awesome toys, which is totally what I plan to do).

My brother is officially getting out of the Marine Corps in June. He's gonna start college and do the lazy college kid thing for awhile. I should tell him it's not all shits and giggles like movies make it out to be, but I'm sure he'll learn that in time.

I bought a new betta a few weeks ago. I've been hesitant to post anything about him because I'm afraid it will jinx him like the other two bettas (rip Raphael and Alphonse). The new betta is a crowntail who my boyfriend named Boris. He's a little shit and has terrorized my rubber-lip plecostomus, Bill, so much that I had to put him back in with the mollies. Boris seems to enjoy having a ten gallon all to himself. He seems to be healthy, but he hasn't made a bubble nest.

I haven't really had the motivation or inclination to do anything outside, so my yard is grown up and there are weeds in my flowerbeds. Hmm...The diet thing isn't working out like it should be. I haven't lost any weight, in fact I've gained some. But I'm attributing that to medications and whatnot. I'm trying to get back on the wagon and get all fit and stuff, because it seems like that should be the next logical step in my -Life Plan-. Hopefully it will work out.

The thing I'm looking forward to the most is hopefully moving in with my boyfriend (that gorgeous man in the photo above *sigh*) this summer, providing I can scrounge up enough money for deposits and what-have-you. I'm so excited. I'm ready to be a fully independent adult person. Whee!!!

Saga of the PIPES

So, Tuesday is usually the day when I drive up to see my handsome boyfriend, L.B. in Norman. I also have class that day, so I usually don't go up until around 2. This past Tuesday, however, I was entering the fourth day of a horrible sinus infection, so I decided to skip class and drive up to Norman anyway. At about 8 am, when I'm usually learning Oklahoma History, I get a text message from my momma, who is already at school, saying she thought a water line had busted because the yard was flooded and we had not gotten any rain. Sure enough, there was a leak in the underground water line. The meter was spinning like crazy when I went out to check it. I turned the water off and tried to figure out what to do next. I decided not to go to Norman, which depressed the hell out of me. Since we're poor, mom and I had to fix the water ourselves. Yeah, we're chicks, but we do that shit. And I don't wanna hear a goddamn thing about women needing men to do shit, because we so obviously don't. Fuck you chauvinists. Anyway, what this is all leading up to is the saga, in pictures.

The hole with water and leaky pipes. I learned that our soil consists of regular dirt, red, gray and yellow clay and various sizes of sandstone rocks.
This is when we were trying to establish just where the pipe was leaking. It turned out that the pipe going in the lower elbow joint had somehow come unglued, and it was just stuck inside the joint. Water was seeping out around the pipe.
This is me, standing in the hole so you can see how deep it is (I am 5'2"). I am also looking depressed, because I hate digging.

This is what the new pipe looks like. We decided that we wanted a faucet closer to the front of the house, so we made one. Yeah, we engineered some shit. Anyway, hopefully no more leaks will happen. As of right now, we are letting the pipe cement cure for 24 hours and since we're both filthy, we came and got a motel room so we could shower and stuff. We will have water tomorrow though! Hooray, because I gotta do the dishes and some laundry.

So yeah, if anyone ever tells you that you can't do the same things a man can do, fuck them. They don't know shit. Oh and also, we probably saved thousands of dollars doing this ourselves. Think about that.

My baby is gone.

My sweet beloved baby boy is gone. I can't even express the depth of pain that I feel right now. He was the most kind, beautiful, amazing, intelligent and loving canine ever to grace the earth. I was privileged to be his friend. I love him with all my heart. I hurt so bad. I miss my baby. I can't stop thinking about him. Bye bye Bubba.

Sorry!

To all my faithful readers (hah!). I'm sorry that I haven't updated, I've been kinda busy with school type stuff and I find it hard to make time for anything. So, news. My red Betta Raphael passed away. It turns out that he came with a pretty funky fin/mouth rot problem and it never quite cleared up. I tried to cure him and he seemed healthier for a while, but I guess he just finally gave up. I can take comfort in knowing that he died in comfort and not in a tiny, filthy torture bowl.

Anywho, before he died, I rescued a whitish Betta who I then named Alphonse. He's very healthy and currently the sole occupant of a ten gallon tank. He enjoys swimming through his log, building bubble nests and dining on bloodworms.

I got nothing else to report. School is running me ragged, I don't get to see my boyfriend very much and I'm having problems with medications. BLAH!

So here's a joke. Two old ladies are talking...One says to the other "Men say 'Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?'" and I say "Why buy the pig when all you want is a little sausage?!" HAHA. Yeah, I stole that from a greeting card..whatever.

Tragedy

R.I.P Marilyn (? 2008-July 2008)

My pretty white molly was belly up on the bottom this morning. I have no idea what killed her (the ich was gone). She was fine last night and this morning(3 am), so I am completely baffled.....and depressed. Now I'm worried that my water is toxic. The rest of the fish seem to be fine though and dropsy fish looks almost normal again.

I am so sad. :(

Fishes!!!

From top to bottom. My 14 gallon tank with three grown up mollies and one baby molly, amazon sword plants, argentine sword plants and a java fern. My ten gallon tank with one molly who has dropsy, mopani driftwood, Scraggly assed Argentine swords, Amazon swords, tiny baby java ferns and various bulbs. A photo of the molly with dropsy. A photo of two of the adult mollies in the 14 gal. tank.

I LOVE MY FISH.

In other news, I was all super-hopped up on caffeine today so I cleaned the litter box (which was fucking disgusting), I washed dishes, did laundry and changed fish water and cleaned the tanks. I am so god damned tired.
