Hey, I'm not a drain.

So, I finally got a job! After months of trying and getting no responses, Friday morning I applied at Toys R Us and they called me that afternoon for an interview Monday morning. Monday morning interview, hired on the spot. Orientation Friday, first day Saturday. Whuh. I'm excited, terrified and nervous. But I work in a freakin' toy store. How awesome is that? I'm so happy!!! No more worrying about rent, food or vet bills. *happy danse*

Oh yeah, vet bills. So I moved up here in June, well, about mid-July, we noticed a cat hanging around outside the apartment. The upstairs neighbors were leaving dog food and water out for him, but he was still a skinny, sad little thing. He was really friendly too, which led me to believe that he had been abandoned by someone in the complex. Anyway, I told my pumpkin "I want this cat." and we started bringing him in and giving him kitty cat food. Long story short, I got this stray cat here, and he's the sweetest, snuggliest, adorabliest cat I have ever had. He is totally okay with being picked up, slung over a shoulder and being cuddled to death. His name is Dusty Rhodes, because he's seen hard times.

Aaaannnyway. Initial vet bills were kinda crappy (really crappy, actually), since he was pretty anemic when we got him. He also had some infections and needed to be neutered. It adds up. After we got him all squared away shot-wise and neuter-wise, we had a blissful month of a happy healthy boy cat who wanted to play all the time and who the other cat was learning to tolerate. Then he started acting funny. Drinking lots of water, flooding the litterbox. We took him to the vet at the end of August and learned that he had diabeetus. So my kitty had to go on insulin. He was up to two units of insulin a day, until one day in late October. I had to take him in for a blood glucose check (which I could have done at home, but eh.) Another long story short, my cat had super low BG. He's been off insulin for about 2 weeks now, and his BG is still really low. I attribute that to the canned food that we feed him. Dry food is not at all good for kitty cats, and I wish more people would realize that. Anyway, my cat is in remission, I have a job, my boyfriend is adorable and life is good right now. Oh and I also have a shipment of Urban Decay makeup in the mail. :D
